Southside Elementary School - MMSD
Madison Metropolitan School District selected Huffman Keel Partners as their Owner Project Manager to help oversee the construction of the new Southside Elementary School. This development is particularly monumental for the neighborhood, which has never had an elementary school within its boundaries. With the completion of this project, students residing in the Rimrock Neighborhood will bid farewell to their long bus commutes to Frank Allis Elementary School, and instead, enjoy the convenience of attending a school located in their own community. The brand new three-story building boasts several noteworthy features designed to create an exceptional learning environment. One standout element is the large skylight installed in the cafeteria's roof. This skylight incorporates a unique "bird glass" that acts as a deterrent to prevent birds from flying into it. The school's roof will also be transformed into a rooftop garden accessible from the third floor, providing students with a green space for outdoor activities and hands-on learning opportunities.
