Helping Strong Organizations Lead the Community
Working to Expand and Improve an Entire School District
Verona School District Renovation and New High School With a need to manage a district wide school construction program, the Verona School District looked to Huffman Keel for strategic owner representation. Along with building a new high school, the project scope included remodeling of the existing high school for conversion to an upper middle school, existing middle school for conversion into elementary facilities, and existing elementary facilities.
Renovating to Include a Safe, Interactive Space for Children
Madison Children’s Museum Over 10 years ago, Huffman Keel was retained by MCM’s board to manage design and construction of a new children’s museum. A donor purchased a 55,000 square foot, 1927 vintage office building just off of Capitol Square with the goal to convert it into a safe and vibrant new home for an interactive museum for children. The building was awarded a LEED-EB Gold certification upon completion.
Creating an Iconic Building for the Arts
The Overture Center for the Arts The Huffman Keel team represented the Overture Development Corporation in the design and construction of the Overture Center which is now considered an architectural landmark in the area. Located in the heart of Madison’s downtown, this facility was designed by internationally renowned architect Cesar Pelli. It provides seven venues for performing arts, including a 2,250 seat main hall, and a contemporary arts museum. The Overture Center was developed using a fast-track process and was completed in April of 2006.
Helping a Local News Station Double In Size
WMTV – NBC15 Helping expand the square footage was only one of the asks for a new facility request by Gray Television, Inc. The owners of Channel 15 WMTV also needed technological improvements. Work began in December 2015 on the construction of a new 32,000 square foot, state-of-the-art television station including two studios, a newsroom, and support spaces on an existing site. By providing especially tailored project management, the Huffman Keel team was able to ensure the build ran smoothly and completed on time.
