Sun Prairie High School
Huffman Keel Partners was hired to serve as Owner Project Manager for creation of the new Sun Prairie High School and remodeling of the existing high school for conversion to an upper middle school. This $101 million project was the largest approved school referendum in state history.
The new high school comprises 410,000 square feet of building space on an 85-acre site and includes a 3-story academic section, a field house, a 1,050-seat performing arts center, a swimming pool, and athletic fields. The building utilizes a geothermal heating and cooling system for energy efficiency.
The upper middle school conversion required unique phasing to minimize disruption to the existing high school while work was conducted changes were made over three summers. The new high school was completed in March 2010 ahead of schedule and significantly under budget. The upper middle school was completed in August 2010.
