Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra was established in 1966 by Professor Marvin Rabin of the University of Wisconsin-Extension Music Department. In the years since, WYSO has served more than 5,000 students from communities throughout southern Wisconsin. Offering three full orchestras, two string orchestras, a chamber music program, a harp program, a percussion ensemble, a brass choir program and the WYSO Music Makers program, Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra enriches lives by providing transformational musical experiences & opportunities.

HKP Partner, Mike Huffman is working as Project Manager along side JH Findorff & Son and Strang, Inc on this incredible new building that will allow WYSO to expand their offerings and musical community.

This new building will allow for all of the organization’s programs to exist under one roof including:

  • State-of-the-art rehearsal space for orchestras and ensembles of all sizes,

  • Studio teaching spaces for area musicians,

  • Administrative offices,

  • A music library,

  • Space for all of WYSO’s current orchestra and Music Makers students

  • Room to grow the programs.

Be sure to look for the 40,085 square foot center for music as you drive along East Washington Ave. And if you notice that the shape is musical on its own, you wouldn’t be wrong. The building’s shape is inspired by the curves of a cello. Which we think is perfectly fitting for a building that will have music flowing through its halls and rooms for years to come.
